ROG CLAYMORE II, the New ASUS Flagship Keyboard - Full Product Overview!

In 2016, Asus released the world’s first gaming keyboard with RGB mechanical switches and a detachable number pad, that was the ROG Claymore. This year, at CES 2021, five years after releasing the first ROG Claymore Keyboard and they announced the Claymore II. And after a couple of months of waiting, we’re super excited to be able to take a look at it for ourselves… so here it is!

Watch as our own Nikki Dean takes an in depth look at the ROG Claymore II and some of it's unique features and how you can get yours exclusively at Scan for it's initial release.

One of the biggest changes between the original Claymore and the Claymore II is the switches. The Claymore came equipped with Cherry MX keys, however the Claymore II is the next keyboard in the line-up to feature ROG RX Switches. Extensive research, testing and fine-tuning has resulted in the creation of Red and Blue switches, with an impressive 1.5mm actuation point. Ensuring lightning fast inputs, to make your moves on the battlefield as quickly as possible. The ROG RX Red switches provide a smooth and linear feel, while the RX Blue switches provide a firm and clicky feel. Both come with a lifespan of over 100-million keystrokes as well as 65% less key wobble in the Blue switches due to the all new stabilizer design.

You’ll also notice similarity in design to its predecessor, ROG have implemented the detachable number pad once again, giving you the option to use it as a traditional full size keyboard with the number pad attached to the right-hand side, or if you’re needing some extra room for your mouse while gaming, you can simply attach it to the left-hand side. Or maybe you’d just prefer using the keyboard as an 80% TKL, well of course you can do that too by removing it completely. The Claymore II also comes with a wrist rest included so you can have maximum comfort for your long gaming sessions.

The Claymore II also comes with a 4000mAh battery for those extended gaming sessions, with over 40 hours use on a single charge - and yes, that’s with all the RGB on and in the standard full size keyboard setup. With up to 100 hours with all the RGB off. And when it does come the time for a recharge, then you’ll be able to make use of the fast charging available with the USB-C. Allowing for up to 18 hours of use from just 30 minutes of charging, that’s of course with all the RGB off but even with the RGB turned on, you’ll be able to get up 8 hours of battery life from just a 30 minute charge.

The Claymore II comes with a USB Type-C cable for wired use, or if wireless is more your thing you can use the included 2.4GHz RF USB Type-A dongle. With an ultrafast 1ms response time in both wired and wireless, your reactions will be instantaneously input. While using the wired setup, you’ll also be able to use the handy USB Type-A passthrough on the back on the keyboard. Perfect for your wireless mouse dongle
